Olivier Xavier, Professional Prop Maker, to serve as Guest Judge on July 7th and 8th

I’m actually trembling while I write this! Aethertopia is so proud and excited to announce our Second Guest Maker Judge for the Guild Contest, and it is none other than Olivier Xavier, professional prop maker and Steampunk fan extraordinaire!

Olivier Xavier is an artist who works in the film and television industry, and who specializes in special effects make-up, props, models, puppets, and animatronics. You may not recognize his name, but you will certainly recognize his work. It has appeared in movies, magazines, television series (including The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne!), and recently he has become quite a popular fixture on many Cosplay, Steampunk, and model-building groups all over the world.

Remember, our guests at Aethertopia aren’t just here to shake hands and pose for photo ops. These professionals are our active participant judges, and they will be floating around the event on both days. Our Guests are there to help YOU become a better Steampunk maker! (And if you’ve ever seen the woodgrain effects Olivier creates on Nerf guns, you’ll be dying to ask him for advice on how you can do it, too!)

And that leads us to the SECOND big announcement!

Mr. Xavier has agreed to do a HANDS ON WORKSHOP for people who want to modify their Nerf guns, right at the event in July! Supplies and materials will be provided so that you can work under the tutelage of a Master craftsman, as you bring your own Steampunk Gun to life!

Premier Pass holders will be contacted by email first to register. 2-day pass holders will get second dibs on spots in the workshop! Any remaining spots will then be opened up to the remaining ticket holders. (There will be a fee for this workshop to cover the materials.)

Don’t miss your chance to work with one of the truly greats of Steampunk Making! And let’s all welcome Mr. Xavier to Aethertopia!

Yours,
Lord Puddleton
